This is the fully-customizable short-sleeve home kit for Switzerland’s 1994 World Cup campaign Switzerland made their seventh appearance at the World Cup in USA 1994 – the competition’s 15th edition – returning to the quadrennial tournament after failing to qualify for the last six editions. They faced Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Malta, and Estonia in Group 1 of UEFA qualifying campaign, finishing second behind the Italians to pick up automatic qualification and the other World Cup ticket after six wins, three draws, and a loss. Legendary English manager Roy Hodgson, who was appointed in 1992, was in charge of Nati, who were making an appearance at the competition for the first time since 1966, with Alain Geiger as their skipper. Switzerland found themselves drawn in Group A with Colombia, Romania, and the United States, and they started their group campaign with a 1-1 stalemate with the U.S, with the North Americans cancelling out Georges Bregy’s 39th-minute opener on the stroke of half-time. A 4-1 demolition of Romania followed, with goals from Alain Sutter, Stéphane Chapuisat, and an Adrian Knup brace getting the job done. The Romanians were reduced to 10 men afterwards, with the red card clearly having no bearing on the game. Switzerland lost 2-0 in their last game of the group stage to the South Americans, but that did not stop them from advancing to the last-16 as the group’s runner-ups behind Romania. The A-Team met Spain in the round-of-16, and La Roja proved too much for them to handle. Hodgson’s side lost 3-0 to the Spaniards and were eliminated, with two late second-half goals dealing a blow on their chances of a comeback from Fernando Hierro’s 15th-minute opener. Switzerland have appeared in four World Cups afterwards and will also be playing in Qatar 2022. However, they have not progressed past the last-16 in the last seven World Cups they have played, with the quarter-finals berths in 1934, 1938, and 1954 still their best-placed finishes in the competition.
