In 2016 we decided to look into bringing a UK manufactured waterproof gaiter to the market. Many of our customers stated that there were some good brands of gaiter available, however they did not incorporate the features to withstand the rigours of forestry, hill stalking and other harsh enviroments. Since 2016 the Monarch “Munro” gaiter has been developed & manufactured in conjunction with the renowned sporting bag maker Phil Ogden. Moray Outfitters have also played a large part in field-testing and gaining feedback from their large network of estate Ghillies, consequently the “Munro” has become a market leader in the UK for deer managers & general shooting sports. For the outer fabric we have taken a heavyweight moleskin and treated it with a Teflon coating which produces a water repellant feature. Military Cordura was also trialled however the consensus was that the material was too noisy. The Moleskin outer material is “Fluro-Carbon” treated to ensure water repellancy. Behind the Moleskin there is a 2oz seamless waterproof & breathable liner which prevents build up of condensation inside the gaiter. Quality zip with Velcro front cover and top & bottom press studs. Elasticated ankle grip. Draw string & toggle knee hem. Double rivet front lace hook. Sturdy cord heel fastening supplied with each gaiter – from our research Pro Stalkers who wear gaiters every day do not like the strap & buckle design of heel fastening as this becomes detached in time, also quad bike riders state that strap fastenings can snag on bike foot rests. Large & XL sizes available. The boots photographed with the gaiters are Lowa Hunter GTX Evo’s – the perfect combo for extreme conditions.
