The Whiteman Harness was created as a tribute to Ron Whiteman, who passed away in early 2018. Ron was an important influence in making Chimacum Tack what it is today. Ron (and his wife, Dorothy) were also responsible for bringing many people to the driving world, championing fun, friendship and happy, healthy ponies. Ron wanted people to have a harness that would really fit minis and be safe and versatile for country driving as well as the show ring. He worked closely with Janie thru the 1990’s to help develop the Chimacum Sport harness which has become the well known ComfyFit Harness. His personal commitment to ensuring new drivers had safe equipment has inspired us to introduce a newly updated Chimacum Harness, originally offered in as our first 1993. Today’s version of the original Chimacum Harness, called the Whiteman Harness, is sturdy enough for every day driving and pretty enough for the show ring. The Whiteman harness is offered, in Ron’s honor, for beginning drivers who need a little help to get a safe, sturdy, comfortable, well-made, all purpose harness. It includes ongoing support for it’s owners in terms of resources, driving groups and so on. The well-designed Whiteman Harness is guaranteed to fit and perform for a long time. Made from soft strap and Brahma Web, it is the perfect harness for learning to drive, training your mini and showing at the local level, breed shows and combined driving events. Several long time Chimacum Tack customers still use and enjoy their original harnesses purchased 25 years ago. The Whiteman Harness comes in black with stainless steel hardware. It is available in Mini Horse A and small B sizes, as well as small Mini Donkey and Mini Mule. There are no options or substitutions available. THIS HARNESS IS NOT KEPT IN STOCK SO PLEASE GIVE US A FEW WEEKS TO COMPLETE YOUR ORDER. It is our intention to honor Ron’s desire for everyone to be able to drive safely and enjoy Mini’s and Ponies. We do not put a price on this harness because it is keyed to the needs of the customer. A similar pleasure harness at our retail price is $425-550. Our goal is to make harness available to people in need of assistance to begin driving. This harness is for those that are living on a very strict budget and need help to purchase a harness. Our Chimacum Tack Pleasure harness or Marafun Harness are our basic pleasure harnesses. The Whiteman harness is intended for people in need financial assistance. Measuring For Your Harness Please go to the Size Chart Page to watch a video showing how to measure. We require measurements for EVERY HARNESS PURCHASE. Our harnesses are guaranteed to fit. This means we need you to measure twice and order once. Or even better, measure three times and order once! We have a How To Measure Chart you can take to your horse to write down the measurements you get. We ask that you be as accurate as you can, without over thinking it or stressing about it.
